We are a women-led organization dedicated to empowering women and children – including orphans and the most vulnerable – through education, confidence building, vocational training, and compassionate support. We uplift communities by creating pathways to self-sufficiency and advocating for lasting change.

We believe that when women are given opportunity and hope, they rise, transform their lives, and grow a legacy that strengthens generations to come.

 – Rahima Frotan
Founder & Director, Rise and Grow Her Legacy

Rahima Frotan is an Afghan-born educator and women’s rights advocate, now based in Northern Virginia, USA. With a lifelong passion for empowering women through education, Rahima has spent over a decade creating safe spaces for learning and growth.

In 2009, she opened her first vocational community center for girls and women in Kabul, Afghanistan. Driven by the belief that education is a pathway to independence, she went on to establish two more centers in 2017 and 2022. Alongside academic programs, Rahima launched vocational sewing classes to equip young women with practical skills and economic opportunities.

Through her efforts, hundreds of women and girls have graduated from HER PATHWAY programs, many becoming inspiring role models and changemakers in their communities.  Her mission is rooted in creating opportunity, inspiring resilience, and building a legacy of empowered women who rise and grow – together.

Rahima now leads Rise and Grow Her Legacy, a Virginia-based organization currently pursuing 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, continuing her life’s work of education, empowerment, and community transformation.
